For Year 3 and 4 students, a shorter school residential trip designed for younger children can be the perfect introduction to outdoor learning and adventure. Children still experience the excitement of being away from home with their class, but without the higher costs and timetable disruption that often comes with a longer stay.

An inspiring first school trip experience

A Rootd school residential trip for Years 3 and 4 is great fun for children and focuses on building confidence and resilience through a range of challenging, nature-based activities.

Working closely together, children have a chance to test themselves away from the classroom and develop important life skills, including:

  • Listening skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Social skills
  • Teambuilding

Children will leave their one or two-night stay feeling proud of their achievements and inspired to go on and explore more of the great outdoors.

What you get with a Rootd trip for years 3 & 4

What’s included in a Rootd Year 3 and 4 school residential trip?

Our Year 3 and 4 school trips are tailored to the needs of you and your students, and you can choose from a number of options:

1. A nature-based night away

A one-night adventure trip with a forest focus, this is the perfect introduction to being away from home. Children explore the outdoors, learn new skills and develop their knowledge of British wildfire, before playing some evening games and settling into their cosy overnight accommodation.

2. An adventure-based night away

On this one-night adrenaline-filled residential, children take part in a range of outdoor activities, such as archery, high ropes and our Wild Survivor Bushcraft session, before enjoying some evening games and snuggling down in their accommodation.

3. A two-night residential adventure

Students experience the very best of the outdoors through a combination of Wild Survivor and Wild Explorer sessions, adventure activities and an exciting team challenge. The extra night allows for more evening games, as well as double the hot chocolate!

Cosy accommodation in accessible locations

Within an hour of Central London, our woodland centres are easily accessible from London and the South East, which means quick travel times and happier children. Instead of spending hours cooped up on a coach, they can make the most of their time exploring the outdoors.

And they’ll love where they stay. In the warmer months they can get the real camping experience in our spacious bell tents, complete with bunk beds and flooring.

When it’s colder, our indoor accommodation is perfect for getting cosy after a busy day in the outdoors.

Our underfloor-heated camping pods are a great accommodation option for your Year 3 and 4 students or for residential trips outside of the summer term, or for a more under-canvas camping experience, you can opt for our bell tents.
