Meet the team

It's our team who make it a such a memorable and truly unique Rootd experience

Rootd team

When children return from one of our Rootd outdoor adventure trips, we’re often told that it’s their trip leaders they talk about the most.

That’s because, for our team, leading outdoor adventures isn’t just a job, it’s a passion. And this passion is infectious. Our leaders get stuck into every activity, and children quickly pick up on their excitement for outdoor adventure – feeling even more inspired to get involved themselves.

Our leaders are all excellent at engaging and communicating with children, and as soon as you arrive on site, they become one of the group.

Joe

Since a young age I have been immersed in the outdoors, through my family running a residential adventure company. Through this I saw the power and transformative effect of the outdoors on young people which created a passion to continue to deliver high quality residentials and welcome schools to Rootd.

Alfie

As a child, I had a love for the outdoors through spending many days on the British coast. This passion developed into a profession, and using my 9 years experience in the outdoor education industry, I am exceptionally proud of leading the Rootd team which is driven by the aim of providing children with an unforgettable residential adventure.

Jamie

Since a young age, I have always found myself immersed in the outdoors, through either playing sports or taking my dogs for a walk in the woods. Working for Rootd has allowed me to stay connected to nature but also has allowed me to help provide children with amazing adventures whilst giving them a lasting love for the outdoors.

I’ve always been passionate about nature engagement, and this drove me to achieve a degree in Zoology and a Masters in Global Biodiversity Conservation. I’m so excited to be doing what I love outdoors, and even more excited at the prospect of sharing my passion for nature. If I can help even one child develop a genuine love and understanding of the great outdoors, I’ll be happy!

Shane

Shane is one of the youngest people to ever pass the John Ryder NCFE Level 4, the most prestigious qualification in outdoor survival and bushcraft. This year long course is usually completed by people many years his senior. Shane has been to the Arctic and helped lead humanitarian expeditions to Borneo which included remote desert island survival. The knowledge and expertise he brings to every Survivor Bushcraft session is exceptional.

I’ve always been passionate about the outdoors and surrounding myself with nature. From an early age, I went` camping with my family and joined the Scouts which I loved! Rootd is a place where I can be in the outdoors and share my love of adventure with the children who join us.

Liam

Ever since I was a child, I’ve always loved nature, the outdoors and adventure – so much so that I’ve been working in the outdoor industry ever since completing a degree in Outdoor Adventure. Growing up as a lifelong Water-skier and someone who is lucky to have lived so near the countryside with these opportunities, it is my belief that the excitement of the outdoors and nature is imperative to childhood!

Memories that will last a lifetime

The opportunity for our children to have experiences they wouldn't normally have. Every member of the team have been amazing and gone above and beyond for both our children and staff. Our Headteacher commented that Rootd were the best instructors she had ever had on a residential trip.
