When it comes to school tripswe make it personal
At Rootd, we offer immersive outdoor residential trips for primary and secondary schools from our convenient Hertfordshire location. We cater for large group sizes of up to 216 children, and with pod accommodation on site, our residentials run all year round.
Many schools come to us after previous residentials with big trip providers, which can feel impersonal, rushed and crowded. As a smaller, independent company we’re focused on delivering exceptional, individual experiences for schools that create a real sense of adventure – which means we do things a bit differently.
What make us different?
our woodland accommodation
Our inspiring pod and bell tent accommodation gives you an outdoor experience that feels adventurous, yet manageable.
Children experience the best of both worlds – the excitement of sleeping close to nature, combined with the reassurance of nearby facilities, such as night-time toilets and motion sensor lighting.

Our location
With our Hertfordshire location, schools from London and the South East don’t need to travel far to find adventure. You can reach us within an hour from Central London and we’re just five minutes from the M25.
This means shorter journeys, lower coach costs and more time to spend on activities.
Our inspirational team
The same highly trained, experienced instructors are with you throughout your stay and get to know every child, making them feel included and inspired to push themselves out of their comfort zone.
With their diverse range of skills, they’re great role models for children, delivering every activity with enthusiasm and expertise, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Over 95% of schools choose to return to Rootd, confident that every trip will be a success
Our activity programmes
Our carefully designed activity programmes, guided by our EDGE Framework, make sure there’s an activity to suit every child, so everyone has a chance to shine.
Whether you want to focus on adrenaline-fuelled activities, survival skills or nature-based experiences, we listen to your objectives for the trip and recommend an activity programme to help you achieve them.
