Rootd team

If you love leading outdoor adventures and you’re passionate about the positive impact they can have on a child’s character development, then we want to hear from you!

Our talented staff play a crucial role in the success of our school residential trips, and we’re always on the lookout for likeminded, enthusiastic instructors to join our team.

What we look for

Children are at the heart of everything we do, so we’re looking for instructors who excel in motivating and engaging children – someone they can look up to as a positive role model. Your passion for outdoor adventure should be infectious, inspiring children to get involved from the minute they arrive on camp.

Working in the outdoors can be unpredictable, so you’ll also need a flexible approach, being able to think creatively and problem solve when faced with unexpected challenges.

We welcome a range of skills

Our team members come from a diverse range of backgrounds, with experience across a wide variety of activities, which enables us to offer a richer, more well-rounded experience for children.

Whether you’re an expert in bushcraft, a pro at leading adrenaline activities or you love teaching children about nature and the natural world, we value all relevant skills and expertise. And if there’s an area you’d like to grow in, we’ll help you upskill later.

Sharing our values

When we recruit new members to join the Rootd team, we also look for people who align with our core values and can bring these to life on camp:

Welcoming

We’re warm and friendly in our approach and make sure every child feels welcome and included, so they can make the most of their time away.

Knowledgeable

We share our knowledge and expertise generously and patiently with children, taking the time to help them develop their understanding of nature and outdoor activity.

Authentic

We’re open and honest, and we share ideas constructively for the benefit of the team. And most importantly, we let our true personality shine through in everything we do.

Present

We give our full attention to whatever we’re doing in the moment, without being distracted by what’s just happened or what’s coming next.

Remarkable

We strive for excellence in everything we do. We don’t settle for what’s ‘good enough’, we always look for ways to go above and beyond.
