Tailored year 4 & 5
residential trips
Inspire a lifelong love of nature through immersive outdoor adventure

Our Rootd school residential trips for Years 4 and 5 are great fun for pupils and focus on building confidence and resilience through a range of challenging and adventurous activities.
Working closely together, children have a chance to test themselves away from the classroom and develop important life skills, such as problem solving and teamwork. And they leave their one or two-night stay feeling proud of their achievements and inspired to go on and explore more of the great outdoors.
What’s included in a Rootd Year 4 and 5 school residential trip?
1. A nature-based night away
A one-night adventure trip with a woodland focus, this is the perfect introduction to being away from home. Children explore the outdoors and learn new skills, before playing evening games and enjoying a sing-along around the campfire.
2. An adventure-based night away
On this one-night action-packed residential, children take part in a range of outdoor activities, such as archery, high ropes and crate stacking, before enjoying evening games and relaxing together around the campfire.
3. A two-night residential adventure
Pupils experience the very best of the outdoors through a combination of bushcraft, adventure activities and an exciting team challenge. The extra night allows for more evening games, as well as double the hot chocolate!
Over 95% of schools choose to return to Rootd, confident that every trip will be a success
Activities with edge
To ensure children get the most out of our trips, our Year 4 and 5 activity programmes are guided by our EDGE Framework.

Enjoy
Designed around the English Outdoor Council’s ten outcomes of high-quality outdoor education, our EDGE Framework ensures that every activity meets a range of outdoor learning objectives.
When you enquire, we’ll discuss the objectives for your trip and recommend a programme to meet them, based on our framework.

Adventurous accommodation
With woodland pods that are ideal for autumn and spacious bell tents that are perfect for the summer, we can welcome you all year round.
Heating and bunk beds in our pods ensures pupils have a cosy place to relax after a busy day in the outdoors, while our bell tents give children a real sense of freedom and being close to nature in the summer months.

Crate stacking was a great activity and a good challenge. The talent show was terrific for the children. Games between activities were also terrific.
