Join the team and thrive in outdoor education

The Rootd team walking through the woods

If you love leading outdoor adventures and you’re passionate about the positive impact they can have on a child’s character development, then we want to hear from you!

Our talented staff play a crucial role in the success of our school residential trips, and we’re always on the lookout for like-minded, enthusiastic instructors to join our team.

.

What we look for

Our school residential trips aren’t just about running back-to-back activities. We want to create an immersive nature-focused experience for children, where they’re free to learn and explore, away from the worries and distractions of daily life.

Children are at the heart of everything we do, so we’re looking for instructors who excel in motivating and engaging children – someone they can look up to as a positive role model. Your passion for outdoor adventure should be infectious, inspiring children to get involved from the minute they arrive on camp.

Working in the outdoors can be unpredictable, so you’ll also need a flexible approach, being able to think creatively and problem solve when faced with unexpected challenges.

And liaising with teaching staff and group leaders is also central to the role, so a friendly, professional attitude is a must!

Why join team Rootd?

Our trips wouldn’t be as successful as they are without the dedication of our amazing team. So, in return for your commitment, we make sure Rootd is always a great place to work.

Year-round contracts

Although our trips run from February to November, our contracts are year-round. We know that the best people don’t hibernate in winter, so we’ll get you helping with other parts of the business. Whether you want to develop new trip programmes or you’d like to support our marketing activity, when our camps are closed, you’ll be encouraged to try new things and develop your talents.

First-class training and development

Once you’re part of the Rootd team, we’ll support you however we can to hone your skills and progress in your career. We provide excellent training opportunities and promote from within, giving you the chance to discover your strengths and broaden your horizons.

Great pay and benefits

Leading outdoor residential trips can be extremely rewarding, but we understand that it also takes a lot of hard work. That’s why our starting salaries are some of the best in the industry and designed to reward staff fairly and ensure you always feel valued.
